GRINDER CARE

How to Use & Care for Your Pep Grinder

Pep grinder care guide

Your refillable Pep grinder looks good on the table and does even better on your food. Here’s how to set it up, dial in your grind and keep it cracking for years.

1. Getting started

Removing the freshness seal from a Pep grinder

Your grinder arrives fully loaded with 50g (1.76oz) of whole Memot peppercorns, so you’re ready to go.

Peel off the freshness seal

To start using your grinder, twist off the lid and remove the freshness seal. This keeps your peppercorns as aromatic and flavourful as the day they were packed. We recommend getting your nose nice and close when you do this.

Replacing the lid

When putting the lid back on, first line up the thread and twist gently. You’ll be back in business in no time.

Give it a test crank

Crank out two or three turns over a plate. This lets you see the default coarseness level before you adjust anything.

2. Fine tuning

Adjusting the Pep grinder from fine to coarse

Begin with a love tap

Before making any adjustments, turn the grinder right-side up and give it a gentle tap. This helps clear any loose peppercorns from the mechanism.

For a fine grind…

Turn the adjustment knob clockwise. Look for the three small dots — that’s your fine setting, perfect for a smooth seasoning finish.

For a coarse grind…

Turn the knob anti-clockwise. The single large dot marks your coarse setting, ideal for steaks or big flavour hits.

Clicks are OK

As you adjust, you’ll hear a clicking sound. That’s the mechanism doing its job.

So is tightness

The knob may feel firm the first few times you adjust it. Don’t worry — it loosens naturally with use.

3. Pro tips

Tap before you grind

Give your grinder a light tap before use. This clears the chamber of any stray grinds and makes way for fresh peppercorns to flow smoothly.

If it jams

Occasionally, a broken peppercorn can get stuck in the mechanism. Twisting the grinder anti-clockwise (to the left) can help free it up.

Avoid steamy scenarios

It’s best not to do long grinds directly over steaming pots, as moisture can get into your grinder.

Keep it covered

When not in use, we recommend keeping the lid on.

4. Refilling your grinder

Topping up is easy

Simply twist off the lid and tip in a fresh 50g (1.76oz) pack of Pep peppercorns.

Need a funnel?

There’s one right on the back of your Pep peppercorn box. Just pop it out and feed the tab into the slot.

5. Get cracking

That’s it. A tap, a twist and a crack is all it takes to keep your grinder in top shape, and your meals full of Pep kick.
